India Update
January 2012
TITUS- Chapter 3-Verses 4-7 (New International Version
Bible)
BUT WHEN THE KINDNESS AND LOVE OF GOD OUR SAVIOR APPEARED, HE SAVED US
NOT BECAUSE OF RIGHTEOUS THINGS WE HAD DONE, BUT BECAUSE OF HIS MERCY,
HE SAVED US THROUGH THE WASHING OF RE-BIRTH AND RENEWAL BY THE HOLY
SPIRIT, WHOM HE POURED OUT ON US GENEROUSLY THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR
SAVIOR, SO THAT, HAVING BEEN JUSTIFIED BY HIS GRACE, WE MIGHT BECOME
HEIRS
HAVING THE HOPE OF ETERNAL LIFE,
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,
I come to you all, once again across these lines and greet you in the Name
of Jesus Christ our Lord
and soon coming King.
It was wonderful to visit with all of you on my
recent trip to "Minne-snow-ta". Once again I tasted of
God's wonderful season of winter, and experienced the crispness of the snow
filled air. It seems as
though so far that has been the most "winter" you have had this season. It
is something we do not
experience here in the area I live in the land of India.
When I show the pictures of
the snow to the children, they refer to it as being like "ice cream". As I
explained
to them we do not eat it,
and it is very cold!!
I wish to ''Thank'' all of you that
attended the special "Open House" held by my host family, Bob and
Margaret Cole at their home. It was wonderful to visit in person with each
one of you, and to show
the latest pictures of the mission work that we are carrying on for the Lord
here in the land of India. We could not do all that we are
doing without your love, prayers, and generous support for His work.
During my visit, I was able to meet with new supporters that have
taken on our mission work for theyear 2012. A "Big" ''Thank
You" and "God Bless You" each and everyone for hearing the Holy Spirit
direct and guide you in your decision to help with God's Holy work here In
India. The people thank you also.
We have been able to take on more medical needs as a result of the
increased support. We were able to assist with "5" eye surgeries
in 2011 to help people be able to have better vision. These
surgeries helped the people not only physically, but spirtually as well, to
see the need for Christ in their lives with the help of the Holy
Spirit as we teach the Gospel message along with the help we
offer to the people.
We have 68 candidates ready for baptism again as a result of the "Gospel
Festivals" held in the month of December. Our Pastors, Elders,
and church family enter into 40 days of fasting and prayerto
preach the Gospel to all that have an ear to hear, and the results pour in.
Our people are longing to hear the Word of God. Many of the
people are illiterates who do not read or write, but embrace what
they hear and carry that "Good News" to others, and daily, God adds to the
church of Jesus Christ. We now have 5,500 adults in our
districts, and that does not include the numbers of children.
We have 134 elders who shepherd these people throughout the districts as
well, and your generous support helps to make this possible. May
God Bless you.
When I was visiting with people during my recent visit I was asked many
times what "the
greatest
needs are right now here in the mission work. First of all, prayer, to
accomplish all that is needed to be done in a day in the work of
the Lord. Many travel from long distances to visit with "Nana", my
father and me in regard to their needs both spiritually and physically. Many
just come without our knowledge and we try our best to always be
there for them. Our time of "rest" is often interrupted and we
rely on prayer to carry us. We are also in need of putting
a metal roof on the large Worship Center. Currently the roof has been
leaking much, and it has been suggested by skilled laborers in the roofing
business here to have it replaced. We currently have a
thatched roof which holds up for only a few years due to monsoon
season and the intense heat in India. When it starts to leak, it needs
replacing.
A metal roof would be
a blessing as then we are putting a permanent roof on and no maintenance is
necessary as with the
leaves we use.
Our next very large need Is
transportation to move our equipment to preach the Gospel in remote
areas, along with transporting the elders and our team members. A van could
also be used to reach people in the villages and remote areas
that need to see the doctors or who need hospitalization.
Currently we hire auto rickshaws, pay the drivers to wait, and hire cabs for
long distances and paydrivers to wait also. We also need the van
to carry the food and utensils and workers to the slums where we
hold the food camps and preach the gospel to the poorest of poor. It is also
necessary for
the medical camps we put on
and pay for to help the people who otherwise get no medical care.
This adds
up in expenses
and much more could be used for the needs of our people if we had our own
transportation. We have
the "Gospel Bike" which was donated over two years ago and we do put up to
three people
on the seat to get to the
meetings and make hospital visits.
However this is quite a large number for
one bike to carry. We are also
working on finishing the second floor of our home to house the orphans that
we have
staying with church families in the villages and hamlets.
It is our hope and
prayer also, to do the third
floor and enclose the house and Worship Center to be secure. Presently we
need to put in
bathrooms, showers,
kitchens, furnish bedrooms, dishes, cooking utensils,
towels, bedding,
laundry facilities, plumbing and
electrical. We are doing small amounts at a time as the support is needed in
other areas. By God's amazing grace we will see it come together.
We send our warmest wishes to all of you for a "Happy New Year" and God's
richest blessings on you
this year and always.
In the Service of the Master,
Brother Suresh
